What are these brown spots on my Face?

What are these brown spots on my Face?

Everyone has brown spots on their skin. It could take the form of melanocytic lesions (moles) or freckles, or a combination of the two. In most cases, there’s no need to treat it. Intervention is usually only required if they are problematic or problematic, for example:

Cosmetic reasons – Other people may not notice it, but to you, a scar or mole might be unsightly. Melanocytic lesions can often be removed.

Nuisance moles – If your moles are constantly in the way of clothing, a razor or a comb, it may need to be removed.

Potentially malignant – Moles that are changing (growing, bleeding or has atypical features) may be malignant, and must be removed.

Then there are pigmented lesions, which include birthmarks, liver spots, age spots and freckles. These brown spots appear where the melanin is most concentrated. Melasma is primarily related to external sun exposure and hormones, which is why it is most common among pregnant women, especially those of Latin and Asian descents. Most people with melasma have a history of daily or intermittent sun exposure. People with olive or darker skin have higher incidences of melasma. However, dark spots typically appear because of sun exposure or aging.

Dark spots can be removed surgically by using excision biopsy or shave biopsy. However, modern laser technology uses light energy to remove pigmented lesions without causing damage to the adjacent skin. Lesions are either lightened or completely removed in as few as four treatments. This method will not be used on potentially malignant lesions.

Photorejuvenation can help remove the veil of pigment which appears years before it turns into brown spots. It can remove fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, liver spots and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body and reduces redness, acne, broken blood vessels on the face, neck and chest. It stimulates collagen for a clearer, more even complexion. This method features:

  • Noninvasive, nonsurgical
  • No down time
  • Painless
  • Few side effects
