AFTERCARE
CLINICAL PATIENT – POST-TREATMENT INFORMATION
Following your Dermapen™ treatment, it is normal to experience minor redness, flaking, tightness, itching, or even small hive-like bumps as your skin begins to heal. These responses are typically short-lived. If any symptoms persist or worsen, please contact your Dermapen™ practitioner.
Skincare to avoid for up to 5 days post-treatment:
• Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) like glycolic, lactic, or malic acid
• Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) such as salicylic acid
• Benzoyl peroxide
• Retinoids (including tretinoin, retinol and retinaldehyde)
• Hydroquinone
• High concentrations of kojic or azelaic acid
• Alcohol-based products (e.g. isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, rubbing alcohol)
If you’re unsure about any product or activity, please reach out to your Dermapen™ practitioner for guidance.
Important DO NOTs
Do not pick, scratch or squeeze your skin during the recovery period, as this can lead to irritation or scarring.
Activities to avoid
For 2–5 days post-treatment (or until initial reactions subside), please avoid:
- Direct sun exposure and solariums
- Swimming in the ocean or other bodies of water
- Intense exercise, cardio or gym sessions
- Excessively hot showers, baths, spas or saunas
- Spray tanning or self-tanners
- Heavy, occlusive or comedogenic makeup (you may use Dp Dermaceuticals Cover Recover, specially designed for post-treatment protection and coverage)
For 2 weeks post-treatment, please avoid:
- Any non-approved clinical treatments (including but not limited to microdermabrasion, laser, IPL, chemical peels, muscle relaxants or dermal fillers)
- Swimming in chlorinated pools or the ocean
- Tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing)
