O-BIOME LYMPHATIC THERAPY

Important Information

Our clients comfort and well being is of the utmost importance to us at Higher Self Skin. It is important to understand the process and procedure of a Lymphatic Therapy treatment to ensure it is suitable for you. If you suffer from Claustrophobia or anxiety, please let your clinician know at your consultation or appointment.

Things to expect during treatment

After cleansing and prepping the skin, the lymphatic mask is applied in a thin layer beginning at the decollate, over the neck, and face, focusing on areas with high concentrations of lymph nodes.

The mask sets tight on the skin, utilising downward pressure to optimise your organ systems, these being your Lymphatic system and Vascular system.

You may feel a pulsating sensation throughout various areas of your skin initially which is the gentle stimulation of the Lymphatic system. The mask will set tight and this is where the vascular system is bringing nutrition from your blood supply into your skin. The skin may get itchy and is most likely due to dehydration and will pass. We advise no scratching and to lightly tap on the area, as additional movement will effect the function of the mask.

We need to minimise talking, or use of technology as any movement can result in the mask cracking. You are welcome to listen to music, podcasts, meditate or simply relax in this time. The mask will then be softened with hot towels and removed and your aftercare applied.

Immediately After Treatment

What to expect

After your treatment your skin will appear hydrated, glowing, and fresh as your cells have been hydrated and nourished from within. Possible temporary side effects may include:

  • Visible dilated arterioles. You may or may not have visible dilated arterioles after the mask is removed. Both outcomes are completely normal. Any dilation will last around 15m. The extent of the visibility is different from person to person, and from time to time.
  • Dehydrated Skin. In some instances, the client may report dry and/ or irritated skin in the subsequent days. Whilst most clients will not experience this it can occur due to low water levels within the skin and/ or a build-up of cells within the skin.
  • Congestion/Breakouts. If a client has underlying congestion, clients may experience an increase in breakouts in the following days. This is due to the active nature of the treatment assisting the body moving toxins up and out.

Important Aftercare

1. Your recovery time will depend on your skin condition. Your Skin Care Specialist will discuss with you what you may experience and any specific aftercare.

2. Avoid direct sun for 5-10 days. Mineral Pro SPF 30+ is mandatory and must be reapplied every 2 hours.

3. Avoid Waxing/Hair Removal for 14 days.

4. Avoid peels, IPL, Laser and Cosmeceutical Facial Treatments for 14 days that are not prescribed by clinic.

5. Avoid exercise, heated yoga, saunas, spas and getting over heated, or pools and chlorinated water for 24 hours.

6. Do not pick, scratch or peel the skin.

7. No exfoliating products, AHA’s, Vitamin A products, Retin A scrubs, or enzymes post treatment for 5 days.

8. Do not use harsh or scratching washcloths for three days after the peel.

COSMELAN

Immediately After Treatment

The Cosmelan 1 treatment mask is applied in clinic and left on for anywhere between 8-12 hours. You will be leaving the clinic and traveling home with the Cosmelan 1 mask on. You will be expected to keep the mask on for the advised number of hours and hydrating with a mist or spray every 2-3 hours until removal.

You will be required to gently remove the mask yourself with tepid water and clean face cloth (keep in mind to use an old face cloth as the mask can stain!)

Once removed you can expect moderate to strong all over redness and may feel tight and warm. You will then follow your first 72 hours aftercare instructions. Swelling can be expected the days following the treatment as well as feeling dry, tight, and itchy. Client experiences may vary.

Important Aftercare

The Cosmelan 1 treatment mask must be left on for the advised number of hours on your aftercare form and it is important for you to mist and hydrate the mask every 2-3 hours for the duration of its application so to avoid the mask drying out and cracking.

Once the mask is removed it is imperative for both optimal results, and the safety and integrity of the skin, that only the provided Mesoestetic products are to be used for the duration of the program unless otherwise instructed or advised by your clinician.

Do not pick, pull or remove any shedding, peeling or flaking skin as this may result in scarring.

Avoid heat inducing activities and exercise including heated yoga, spas, saunas and hot showers/baths for up to 2 weeks post treatment.

Avoid pools and chlorinated water during the healing phase.

Avoid direct sun exposure for the duration of the program and ensure Mesoestetic SPF is applied daily.

It is not recommended that you undergo any other dermal therapies during the treatment program unless otherwise instructed or advised by the clinician.

Avoid skincare that is not part of your program. Specifically resurfacing actives such as AHA/BHA's, exfoliants, vitamin A/Retinol/Retin A etc, unless otherwise instructed or advised.

Avoid waxing/threading in the treatment area for 4 weeks post treatment.
